Shaping tomorrow, today.

New name. Same mission. Bold plan.

Fenway Forward has been part of this neighborhood for decades, standing with residents, building affordable homes, and strengthening what makes Fenway unique. Rooted in the strength of our community, we’re proud to introduce our new name and logo alongside a dynamic 4-year strategic plan built with you and for you. Together, we will shape a future that reflects our shared values, voices, and hopes for tomorrow. Because Fenway belongs to all of us — and so does its future.

Our new name and logo reflect our community and values, and position us for a dynamic future. We evolved our look to honor our roots while showing the strength and authority we need to shape a brighter housing future together. It has a polished, modern look that strengthens our voice in today’s competitive housing landscape.

The history of Fenway CDC

How we'll keep the Fenway moving forward.

These priorities guide our work over the next four years (2026–2029) and focus on creating lasting benefits for the Fenway community—strengthening homes, opportunities, connections, and support for everyone who lives here.

Fenway Forward ensures our community’s voice is heard in decisions that shape our neighborhood. From longtime residents to new arrivals, from neighbors to local businesses, our strength comes from working together. Building on decades of advocacy, our strategic plan envisions a Fenway where people from all walks of life can live, study, work—and most importantly—belong. Year one: Building the foundation for lasting change

This is a year of fresh beginnings and steady purpose. With a new name and a bold four-year strategic plan, we are building on more than five decades of dedication to our mission. Year One is about laying the groundwork, raising our visibility, strengthening our systems, and deepening our relationships with residents, partners, and supporters. Guided by our enduring commitment to people and community, these priorities will set the stage for lasting impact in the years ahead.

Raise the profile of the organization

With a new name and refreshed identity, we will step confidently into the spotlight—sharing our story, strengthening community connections, and ensuring our mission is recognized far and wide. This means clearer communications, stronger community presence, and deeper connections with partners and supporters, ensuring our mission and impact are widely recognized.

Update systems and databases

To serve our community more effectively, we’ll enhance our internal systems. By upgrading systems and databases, we’ll give our staff the tools they need to work smarter, not harder, making it easier to deliver seamless, reliable experiences for those we serve.

Assess fundraising capacity

To expand our impact, we must grow our resources. This includes strengthening our fundraising capacity, building partnerships and cultivating support that sustain and grow our mission-driven programs.

Asset management and resident experience

Our residents are at the heart of everything we do. We’ll invest in thoughtful asset management and responsive services, creating safe, supportive, and welcoming environments where people feel valued and heard.

Programs: Workforce development and community engagement

In year one, we’ll expand workforce development initiatives and deepen community engagement. These programs open doors to opportunity, provide essential skills and support, and foster stronger connections among residents and partners.

Incorporate listening into corporate culture

Listening is more than a practice, it’s our promise. We’re committed to embedding listening into everything we do, listening to residents, staff, and partners as a way to guide decisions, improve services, and ensure our work reflects real needs. Building a culture of listening creates trust, accountability, and stronger community bonds.

Understanding the Strategic Plan

Why did we change our name?

To better reflect who we are today. Our mission, values, and dedication remain the same. As part of our new strategic plan, created with and for the Fenway community,we identified the need for a name that strengthens awareness, reflects our future goals, and better communicates our impact. During the strategic planning process the community directed us to set bold goals. And to be creative in communicating our impact. This new name, logo, and other future tools match those bold goals.

What's staying the same?

Our people, programs, and commitment to the community.

What's actually changing?

Only our name and branding. Our mission, staff, and services remain consistent.

Does this affect our mission or services?

No. Everything you rely on continues as before.

Are the people serving you the same?

Yes. Our staff and leadership remain the same, committed and passionate.

How does this benefit the community?

The new name helps us communicate more clearly and strengthen our impact. It is part of our broader strategic plan, which was built with community input to guide our next four years. Together, the rebrand and strategic plan ensure we can raise awareness, expand resources, and better achieve the goals that matter most for the community.

How was the new name chosen?

Through thoughtful collaboration with staff, leadership, and stakeholders. Rooted in the findings from the many focus groups, interviews and town hall meetings starting in October 2024.

What is the new 4-year strategic plan?

It’s our roadmap for the next four years, outlining goals, priorities, and ways we’ll strengthen programs, services, and community partnerships.

How does the strategic plan affect services or staff?

Our current programs and staff remain unchanged. The plan guides future growth and improvements.

How will the community benefit from the strategic plan?

The plan ensures our work is more focused, effective, and responsive to the community’s needs. It was built with input from residents, partners, and stakeholders to reflect shared priorities. Over the next four years, the plan will:

  • Strengthen alignment and accountability so our vision and actions are clear, measurable, and impactful.
  • Invest in staff and infrastructure to improve services and create spaces that meet community needs.
  • Expand resource development and fundraising to bring in more support for vital programs.
  • Deepen community engagement and leadership development so residents help shape decisions and lead change.
  • Launch early programmatic actions to protect tenants, expand affordable housing, build workforce opportunities, and empower residents through advocacy.
How can I get involved or stay updated?
